ATLAS: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

The ATLAS paradigm allows applications to effortlessly achieve
soft-real-time capabilities. ATLAS leverages Grand Central Dispatch's
API for ease of programming and scalability. The ATLAS predictor
transforms workload metrics into execution times, removing burden of
specifying execution times for jobs from the programmer. In my work,
I extend the ATLAS concept to multiprocessor machines, implementing
partitioning and migration, overload mitigation by job-stealing, and
parallel work queues.
