Porting the VMKit framework and the J3 Java Virtual Machine to L4Re

The usage of high level, garbage collected languages, such as Java, can ease the development of servers and applications in L4Re. The existing VMKit framework for developing virtual machine runtimes provides an easy way for such high level languages to be implemented.

In my talk I present the methods used to make VMKit and the example J3 Java Virtual Machine available on L4Re. I further detail the implementation of L4Re bindings in Java, which enable the development of IPC servers and clients in this high level language, and will also discuss the impact on IPC performance of such an implementation.
