Making Energy a Useful Resource to System Engineers and Programmers
Timo Hönig
FAU Erlangen/Nürnberg
Energy has become a fundamental resource for computer systems. This talk
presents and discusses the approach to energy-aware programming which
facilitates the efficient and appropriate use of energy resources at the level
of system software and applications. Energy-aware programming closes a yawning
gap and provides profound tooling support for optimizing the energy demand of
software components: Right at the time of software creation, system engineers
and programmers receive feedback on the energy consumption for their program
code accompanied by suggestion for improvement.
