Can we install L4 on a "bare machine"?

Hi everybody,
  I have installed L4 under Linux successfully. Now I wonder can we
install L4 on a "bare machine"--a computer which haven't installed any
OS at all.
  If we can, then how to install it.
  If not, what extra job should I do to make it possible.
  As I'm thinking of that L4 is just a microkernel, it hasn't got a
filesystem, if we want to install it on a "bare machine", how shall we
manage the files.
