Thank you first of all for the hint about multiboot.bin. That was an issue in qemu-2.0.0, therefore I downgraded my version to 1.7.1. Now lx_ginger.iso works fine.

Ok, I understand. The system seems to stop booting in the framebuffer driver (mag gets not started). This indicates that the framebuffer driver is
stuck
emulating the 16bit VESA bios code. Newer versions of that bios try
writing
debug information through an IO port. Can you try adding the following line to the VGA device in your x86-legacy.devs
Res.io(0x402, 0x402);
and see if it works? You can also append the following cmdline to qemu
to
see the output
-chardev stdio,id=seabios -device isa-debugcon,iobase=0x402,chardev=seabios
