Hi Dirk,
I am trying to build a usb webcam driver. I have got an compiler waring that "LINUX_VERSION_CODE" is defined in multiple places. Could you please tell me which linux version headers you have emulated in dde_usb ?

Thanks

Hi Dirk,
Thanks for ur kind help. Could you please tell me how can I
debug signals received from camera..  Can I activate debugger console by
pressing some keys.   I want to print some text output (using printf) on
console from camera  .. so that I can debug my camera codes.

By the way , I have found uvc driver and also other drivers under directory
l4/pkg/usb/examples/usbcam/contrib/linux/drivers/media/video

You have incuded CPIA , GSPCA and UVC drivers in make file of SRC directory
. I think that all the drivers that you have incuded in make file should
work .  Please correct me if I am not correct. The UVC driver for my laptop
is not working . I am trying to make it work.

Thanks
Tapas

After performing some RTFM actions I?ve found out that it?s not really hard
to back port latest drivers from new to old NAPI. Until driver does not
create multiple NAPI structures per device (possible if NIC is kind of
modern, SMP oriented and can support multiple receive queues with CPU
affinity and flow separation).
Here are useful links for those who might be interested in:
http://www.linuxfoundation.org/en/Net:NAPI ? old NAPI (<2.6.24)
http://lwn.net/Articles/244640/ - new NAPI (>=2.6.24)

Regarding Intel NICs, driver that supports both old and new NAPI is provided
by Intel corp.. I?ve downloaded it from official site and managed to get it
built and running with ORe (it supports my e1000 NIC - 8086:10d3, while
driver from svn repo does not).

Still. In my opinion it is a good thing to have new NAPI support in DDE even
if it?s only network driver specific interface. But I guess you don?t have
plans for adding such a feature to DDE.

Best Regards,
 Alexander Valitov

Hey,

thanks for the info and the links. I hope it will be useful for people
using this stuff in the future.

On your expectations on future DDE features - yep, we will most probably
not move DDE/Linux2.6 in L4Env to newer versions of Linux. Newer DDE
versions will probably only be available for the new L4 Runtime
Environment (L4Re) and the new version of Fiasco, both of which are not
yet available publicly.

I tried the UVC driver, but unfortunately this driver does not support
video capturing trough the read system call.  To make it work you have
to add the code for capturing video through shared memory.  You should
have a look into the the V4L2 documentation for that.

Ciao, Dirk.

Hi Dirk,
I am trying to add driver for sn9c102 based webcams. I have
included all the srource files from directory
l4/pkg/usb/examples/usbcam/contrib/linux/drivers/media/video/sn9c102 in
MAKEFILE of SRC directory. In linking stage , it says that it cant find some
refrences to  param_set_bool' , 'vm_insert_page' ,  'vmalloc_32_user' ,
'dev_name', 'complete_all' .

Should I add some static library in makefile which I have found under SRC
directory of USBCAM.  Please notice that it is not giving any error in
compiliation stage of diffferent object files. It gives error only in
linking stage of usbcam.o  .

Please help me .

Thanks
Tapas
