The l4 linux page doesn't have much information about the l4re version of l4 linux. How stable is it? What is the performance like?
Is there any way to mount the l4re VFS inside linux? I was thinking perhaps I could mount it using 9p to an l4 server. But it looks like 9p needs tcp/ip. Is there a way I can use something like l4shmnet to talk to an l4 server instead of talking to another l4linux?

It runs things like L4Android so it's quite ok. Performance wise it's slower than native but close to it (of course depending on the workload).

There's no way currently for mounting it inside L4Linux. Glueing those together via network is possible I guess but no code exists for that currently.
