Hi,
I cannot launch those amd64 pre-built epi images with Qemu 4.2.1 on Ubuntu 20.04. All the pc images are fine. I have added the '-bios /usr/share/qemu/OVMF.fd' option. There is a warning "KERNEL: Warning: ACPI: Could not find RSDP, skip init" and then "no console will be available to OS". It seems that the first warning is from Fiasco, in fiasco/src/kern/acpi.cpp. I guess this is because the ACPI version. How can I solve this issue? Does anyone see the same problem? Thank you very much!
Hi,
I just tried to confirm your report with the hell.efi.iso image which seems to work fine. Does that image also work for you?
The warning you are seeing indicates that there is something wrong with the BIOS and that the address of the ACPI tables is not correctly passed from the BIOS to L4Re's bootstrap component.
Regards, Matthias.

Hi,
Thank you for your reply! I guess you mean hello.efi.iso. The answer is yes I also tried that image. Unfortuantely, it does not work either. May I know the version of qemu-system-x86_64 and host OS you use?
With Qemu 4.2.1, there are two windows after I run the command. On the qemu window, there is a warning "no console will be available to OS", and an error "no suitable video mode found". On the terminal window, I see the ACPI warning and the hello messages. I guess it means the serial output is fine, but there is something wrong with the UEFI boot.
With the legacy bios and the pc image, everything is fine. The hello messages show up on both the windows.
Thanks, Cong
