2.2.x kernels okay?

Hello there,

 

I am trying to install the pca-200e card on my linux machine. I have downloaded the drivers, and have also been to the Linux ATM site. I am a little confused here: the os.inf.tu-dresden.de site says that pca-200e will run on 2.2.x kernels, but the ATM Linux site says that their solution will work only on 2.3.x kernels. Although the nature of my work is research-based, I try not to touch the 2.3 kernel. Is the possible to stick to 2.2.x kernel?
