exactly, but with the e1000, the e1000_clean_rx_irq() does not call netif_receive_skb() because rx_desc->status is always zero.

it doesn't process any packets. it just enters the loop and breaks at (status & DescOwn). which is weird... and i even tried other cards but so far all behavior is the same.
