Hi , I have downloaded all the modules by running './repomgr co all' . Then I have run: cd l4 make O=/home/tapas/8thApriluserbuild But L4 IDE has not compiled. Could you please guide me for building L4ide and using it.

Dear Sir, We are student of IIT Delhi, India . We have downloaded demo cd from http://demo.tudos.org/eng_features.html We have seen some nice application and drivers like l4ata ,bddf, DSweeper etc. Could you please give us a download link to these free softwares and drivers. In the present svn repository, we have not found l4ata,bddf, DSweeper packages. We want to develop filesystem read/write support to write in hard disk. Thanks Tapas

Hi ALL, We are student of IIT Delhi. We are trying to build a usb webcam application and ext2 file system driver on L4. We have seen an *application USBHID directory* under L4/pkg downloaded from svn . Could anybody let us know how to use this application. Please also let us know the required menu.lst file to use this application . 1) Please also describe required menu.lst file to use dde, dde_linux26, dope, drop,loader together . 2) Could any body tell us what is the difference between dde and dde_linux26 application found in svn ? 3) Please also tell us how to use these to build an usb device driver. Hi, In order to increase the Fiasco performance, I removed all debug-stuff from the kernel. USB Keyboard and l4con

Hi, I've got the problem. l4con doesn't work with USB keyboard. It occurs with L4linux+l4con and even with simple txtmode con applications. "USB legacy support" is turned on. Here is how l4con complains: C.05:con | atkbd.c: Unknown key pressed (translated set 2, code 0x66 on is a0060/ C.05:con : serio0). C.05:con | atkbd.c: Use 'setkeycodes 66 <keycode>' to make it known. I have compiled loaders downloaded from svn repository on 5th April 1:00 AM IST ,svn revision 444. Please correct these two errors. And also let us know correct solution as soon as possible. Please also let us know how can we get stable versions of dice ,fiasco ,hello ,l4env, dope, linux-26-headers, dde_linux26 ,l4ide, ore. Please also let us know menu.lst file for dope with l4env,hello, loader, dde_linux26,l4ide,ore . This seems to me a bug .. Please solve as soon as possible. We need the loader and other modules for our work as soon as possible. We have a plan to build usb webcam and ex2 filesystem driver as soon as possible.

Hi List, I have another question regarding L4Linux and IPC. Whenever I perform IPC-communication, I get the following debug output: l4lx| l4ts_free_task(): Could not return task. This message is repeated twice on every IPC-call. What is the cause of this and how do I get rid of this? ;) Thanks in advance! *I am a student of IIT Dellhi. I am working on a project to build usb webcam driver and ex2 filesystem driver for L4. I have compiled loaders downloaded from svn repository on 5th April 1:00 AM IST ,svn revision 444. Hi ALL, We are students of IIT Delhi. We are working on a project based on Fiasco L4 microkernel. We need to buid servers on L4 for ext2 filesystem support and usb web cam support. Could you please clear following doubts : 1) Does "fiasco l4 microkernel/ l4 env" provide support for ext2 filesystem or usb webcam ? 2) Does "fiasco l4 microkernel/ l4 env" provides Device Driver API library so that we can build driver for it ? 3) Do we need to build both usb driver and webcam driver in "fiasco l4 microkernel/ l4 env" to provide support for usb webcam ? 4) Does "fiasco l4 microkernel/ l4 env" provides l4 io driver for SATA or IDE harddisk ? Questions about FLIPS

Hi, I've got some questions about FLIPS functionality. 1. Does flips contain internal routing mechanism? Can I get access to routing tables through NET_LINK socket interface? 2. Does flips contain netfilter or something like this? If yes, can I get access to it? 3. What about SNAT/IPmasquerading? Is it supported in some way? 4. Does flips support IPsec? Maybe another L4 package could provide such a support? AFAIK there was "Viaduct" and "nethub" projects. Seems that nethub is discontinued. I believe there should be some results. Does someone keep working in this direction? socket libc backend misses recvmsg()

Hi, It seems that file l4/pkg/l4vfs/lib/libc_backends/socket_io/socket.c misses recvmsg() function. There is send(), sendto(), sendmsg(), recv(), recvfrom(), but no recvmsg(). IPC problem with dice-3.3.0

Hi l4-hackers, I am currently having some issues with dice-3.3: First of all, the dice-generated code differs in header- and client file, meaning that the header defines functions with int DICE_CV somefunction() while the outcoming c-file is int somefunction() This leads to compile errors due to conflicting declarations... But as soon as you remove DICE_CV, everything compiles fine. The second problem I have regards IPC-calls: I am using the latest otc-snapshot (2008-12-10 with l4linux-2.6.27) and have written a small IDL-interface as follows: dummy.idl: == interface dummy { void hello(void); } == The server (running under L4Linux) registers itself at the names-service as "dummy" and starts the server_loop... [BUGREPORT] DDE timer handling

Hi list, I am working on a port of an Ethernet-based fieldbus stack to TUDOS. The stack is a Linux kernel module so I am utilizing DDE as a wrapper for this. Things seem to work like this: the module creates a kernel thread which does the network polling in an endless loop. The loop basically looks like this: while (1) receive_data() process_data() send_data() schedule_func() Here, schedule_func() does the following: set_current_state(TASK_INTERRUPTIBLE); schedule_timeout(1); Which I interpret as something like wait for 10ms (assume HZ==100) or an event to occur and then restart the loop. schedule_timeout() creates a new timer with the specified timeout and calls plain schedule(). Ok, this works quite good up to an arbitrary point where the complete system stops working. Sometimes, the system runs 2min, sometimes 1h and sometimes 3h, so it varies a lot. After the stuck occurs, using jdb, I see the kernel_thread waiting for a message to be woken up. On the other hand, the timer_thread which has to throw this messages is in idle state. I am still a L4 beginner, especially in debugging its subsystems. However, for me that looks like we lost a timer event somewhere. I replaced schedule_timeout() with msleep(10) which omits the timer stuff and that works for me here for hours without any stuck. Before further tracking down this issue I want to make sure that you guys don't have any patch pending that fixes that problem, have u? Best regards, Andre

fnmatch() is absent in ulibc port

Hi, I'm porting some Linux application to L4Env using your ulibc port. The application uses fnmatch() function from libc. For some reason this function is absent in BUILD-DIR/lib/x86_586/libuc_c.a file, but at the same time BUILD-DIR/include/uclibc/fnmatch.h is present. So compilation completes without error, but linkage fails. Was it done intentionally? ./l4/pkg/uclibc/lib/uclibc/Makefile does not even try to compile ./l4/pkg/uclibc/lib/contrib/uclibc/libc/misc/fnmatch/fnmatch.c. See DIRS variable definition. If it was done intentionally. Why the header is in the way? L4linux Installation Problem(Double Page Fault)

Right now I'm working on a project which utilizes Fiasco/L4Env/L4Linux environment, so I'm just trying to set it up on my workstation. Unfortunately, I have encountered some problems which bothered me for days. Could anybody help me out? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, Thank you. Problem with L4Linux ORe stub driver

Hi, I'm trying to run L4Linux with ORe. I can successfully run L4Linux without ORe and can run ORe without L4Linux (arping works). But when I try to run L4Linux with ORe, boot process hangs up after message from stub driver: eth0: Overwriting IRQ type for IRQ 10 with l4ore type! eth0: request_irq(10, ...) l4lx | l4x_ore_irq_startup l4lx | l4lx_thread_create: Created thread 10.0b (L4OreRcv) eth0: interface up. Grub Question + some other information needed

Hi List I know that a grub different from the standard is used. I downloaded the grub on Adam's site but have no idea how to get that diff file to work. There is a ReadMe called as grub-0.97-os.3.README that gives some info but I don't just get the fact that it is to boot from network. I am just booting from the hard disk using standard grub (with -modaddr option used with bootstrap), but now I need to use the vbeset command (and maybe others in future), so I really need that grub. I have done these $ wget ftp://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/grub/grub-0.97.tar.gz $ wget http://os.inf.tu-dresden.de/~adam/grub/0.97/grub-0.97-os.7.diff.gz $ tar xzf grub-0.97.tar.gz $ cd grub-0.97 $ zcat ../grub-0.97-os.7.diff.gz | patch -p0 so what i do next? just install this grub (using install) or something else? because the next steps in readme seem like specific for diskless booting from some network. and what version of adam's grub should I download (i used the grub-0.97-os.7.diff.gz because it seemed latest). some other things (unrelated to above) -- can i make programs that could write output to some file on hard disk. Is somewhere a reference manual that gives info about what datatypes and functions can i use in a general program i write, e.g. to do something equivalent of scanf,malloc,etc. Regards, Ashish

difficulties with Loader

Hi, During my play with 'run' application (./l4/pkg/loader/examples/run) I've discovered two issues. They both applies to the chain 'run'<->'loader'<->'simple_ts'. 1. First issue: I start 'con_demo1' application using 'run' utility 'l' command, then try to kill it. Kill process fails with following output (here F.02 is 'run' thread, 10.00 is 'con_demo1' task): A.00:simplets| task_kill(): Kill 10.00 from E.02 but owner is F.02 E.02:loader | l4ts_kill_task(): failed (dest=10.00 server=A.00, ret=-11, exc 0) E.02:loader | con_demo1,#10: Error -11 (not owner) killing task (ignored) It looks like inconsistency in loader's behavior. So I think inconsistency is quite obvious. A straightforward solution here is just to remove l4ts_owner() invocation from l4loader's code. Do I miss something? 2. Second issue Scenario is the same as before: 'con_demo1' is started by 'run' and then killed by using run's 'kill' command. In this case: - 'run' calls l4loader_app_kill_call() - 'l4loader' calles app_cleanup_extern() - app_cleanup_extern() calles l4ts_kill_task(app->tid, 0) As a result simple_ts will not free allocated TaskNo for 'con_demo1' (use run's 'A' command for TS state after task has been killed). I think last argument for l4ts_kill_task() function is wrong.
