Binary Compatibility of compiled programs in different DROPS versions?

Hi, can you tell me if programs compiled for a specific DROPS version are runable on other DROPS versions as well? Or is it necessary to compile the program on each target machine? I do not talk about programs like dm_phys or rmgr but about user applications which use some DROPS RT-functions. Thanks, Arthur

Build Issues

Hi, I am trying to follow the directions (which may be old?) on the Fiasco site for building. (I am attempting to build a full DROP system eventually.) I am running OpenSuse 10.1, and have installed GCC 3.4.6 specifically for this purpose. After restructuring my dev area, I am building out of usr/src/drops. I have checked out the latest versions of l4 and l4linux-2.6 (even tried the hello alias.) For some reason, I can't seem to get past a missing configure in the tool/dice subdirectory. Can anyone clue me in as to how to generate this file properly? I start in usr/src/drops, create a bin directory to receive the output, type make -C l4 config and point DROPS_STDDIR to /usr/src/drops/bin, then I check the Linux-2.6 kernel sources available, and the default path appears correct ($(L4DIR)/../l4linux-2.6) and Save the configuration. Subsequently, I cd directly into l4 and try a simple make. It then asks for me to always provide O=.../builddir -- is this the same dir I provide in the config Target Path for DROPS_STDDIR ? So after doing that, it wants me to run config again ... so I do and set the paths all over again. After that, it gets through the bootstrap step in dice, but fails because ./configure does not exist. I am sure I am doing something stupid or missing a vital stip. Any tips would be appreciated. Multiprocessor Fiasco? Drops on Pistachio?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone was working on either of the following scenarios: 1. EM64T or AMD64 multiprocessor support for Fiasco 2. Running the DROPS OS on top of multiprocessor Pistachio I am interested in this functionality, would like to not duplicate any existing work, and would like to contribute to these areas if there are already folks working on this. Hello Christian I am currently trying to port a network server to L4 and I am attempting to use flips in order to enable communication across the network. I am getting the following message after running *make* in the pkg directory. I have tried to check out the l4vfs package but it is not available. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. unable to compile flips

Hello all I am trying to port a network server to L4 and I have checked out the flips and dde modules using cvs. However when I run make withing my pkg directory I get the message below. I've tried checking out l4vfs in an attempt to solve the problem but with no success. Am I doing something wrong?? Thanks, that helped alot on the L4 ore side. Arping seems to run fine now except that packets seem not to be making it to and from the host network . Do I need to configure something for the tunnel for fiasco-ux ?? DROPS and ARM

Hi, I try to compile DROPS for an ARM processor.
