hello everyone! i am a student from china. recently i did some research on Fiasco. i wonder how can i download the previous releases of fiasco,l4re and l4linux. i found the latest version of fiasco,l4re and l4linux here at http://os.inf.tu-dresden.de/download/snapshots-oc/.i want to get l4linux with the linux kernel 2.6.32 or 2.6.34 or 2.6.35 and the compatible fiasco microkernel and l4re. i have another question. now the fiasco microkernel becomes fiasco.OC.when did it get this changes? and what does it mean with the name of the version like fiasco-2011081207. i am beginner with so much doubt and waiting for request of teachers. thanks! Is there a way to build a non-PIC shared library with l4env?

Hi, I am trying to establish a shared arena for loading DLL's, i.e. a shared memory region, in which DLL's are loaded at the same address in each address space. I also need some ELF shared library loaded at fixed address, so I could call routines in .so from these DLL's (yes, a mixed case: LX format DLL's calling an ELF shared object, this shared object is a client library for some servers, and I want to call their API's from DLL's). So, I intend to load a shared oblect at fixed address to be the same in different address spaces. But the l4env build system seems to produce PIC shared objects only, and no suitable example. Is there any way to compile a non-PIC shared object with l4env build system? I also hope the 'loader' server will load the shared library at pre-compiled address. Maybe, also the PIC ones could be loaded at desired address (I know that, at least, libloader.s.so is loaded at fixed address, but maybe, this is a single hardcoded case) Thanks in advance, valery

Problem with l4linux on real hardware

Object-Capabilities and Physical Memory Mapping

Hello everyone, I have some questions regarding object-capabilities and physical memory mapping. - First of all, my goal is to manage and develop drivers on top of Fiasco. The documentation mentions the existence of an I/O server that does not seem to be on the repository anymore. Did I miss any announcement or is the I/O server in development? - As I did not find this server, I tried to code drivers from scratch but fail to see how I can map physical addresses in the first place. With other L4 kernels I would expect to find a map system call which would provide such a mapping to a thread with sufficient capabilities. In your model however, it seems that object-capabilities on such operations are transmitted to sigma0 only and that further mapping requests should go through sigma0. I actually lack any example on how to talk to sigma0 in the first place - what OC should I use as the first argument of l4sigma0_map_iomem(). - I also fail to understand the actual meaning of the environment OCs "map region" and "mem alloc" and the actual operations they provide, along with the "classic capabilities" my thread has on physical addresses for instance. Moreover, is there any configuration step where I can modify/list those "classic capabilities" passed to the thread spawned by moe?
