Hey, I'm having trouble booting the hello example on real hardware. target CPU does not support ARM mode

I have a new error, appears from nowhere... I dowloaded the last L4RE version from the website, edited the mk/Makeconf file to put my "arm-none-aebi-" compilator and when i type: $ make O=build config/ I select ARM 7A / BeagleBoard, as usual, as it always worked... Here is my output: [...] <stdin>:1:0: error: target CPU does not support ARM mode [...] tmp.312625562.c:1:0: error: target CPU does not support ARM mode int main(void){} ^ He always create tmp file at the folder root whith nothing else than int main(void) {} inside. Region overflow in bootstrap

When booting Fiasco/L4Re on my test machine (16G RAM, quad-core i7), I get the following error message, unless I have all CPUs and HyperThreading active: L4 Bootstrapper Build: #2 Mon Jun 3 14:15:47 CEST 2013, x86-32, 4.8.0 Limiting 'RAM' region [100000000, 43e5fffff] {33e600000} to [100000000, 10ea803ff] { ea80400} due to 3024 MB limit Bootstrap: add_nolimitcheck: Region overflow As soon as I deactivate CPUs in the BIOS or deactivate HT, it fails. Increasing the buffer __ram[8] to, e.g., __ram[16] in bootstrap/server/src/startup.cc:L67 does the trick. Maybe that buffer is too small for some machines?

All *.cpp files are ignored by Makefile

Hi, I tried to add a few .cpp files to Makefile but it seems that L4Re build systems ignores this extension. This is the content of the Makefile: #################################### PKGDIR ?= ../.. L4DIR ?= $(PKGDIR)/../.. TARGET = test_cpp SRC_CC = main.cpp class1.cpp class2.cpp REQUIRES_LIBS = libstdc++ include $(L4DIR)/mk/prog.mk #################################### I tried to replace SRC_CC with SRC_CXX or SRC_CPP but with no luck ... This bug prevents the port of most of C++ libs out there to L4Re. BTW, is there any chance to use other build-systems (cmake, qbs, premake, SCons, etc.) to build L4Re libs/apps ? Cheers, BogDan.

How to catch unhandled exceptions ?

Hi, Is there any way to catch all system unhandled exceptions (seg fault, fpu fault, etc.) and "transform" them into C++ exceptions ? I tried to use a combination of "L4::Thread::control" with "L4::Thread::Attr::exc_handler" to catch the system exception but it didn't worked for me, most probably I didn't understood the meaning of "l4_thread_control_exc_handler" or how to use it. Any example/help will be very appreciated. Of course, after I'll catch the exception, I need a way to "resume" the thread execution to another ip (address) which actually is a simple function that throws the C++ exception, any example/help on the matter will also be highly appreciated. Can't use cxx::Thread

Hello, I tried to create a very simple application that uses cxx::Thread, but I have some link problems: ... Kernel debugger in MP mode causes double fault

Hi folks, has anyone tried to invoke the kernel debugger in a multiprocessor setup? When I boot the demo scenario in qemu with qemu -smp 2 -cpu core2duo and then hit Escape, the system crashes with a double fault. Without smp or with -cpu qemu32 the problem doesn't occur. Can someone confirm this issue or give a hint what could be wrong? Cheers Markus

How to boot Fiasco microkernel on raspberry pi

I want to port Fiasco microkernel to RPi. I found that Fiasco now supports RPi. I am a newbie in this kernel field. I have compiled the L4 microkernel and the L4 runtime environment for RPi succesfully but I don't know how to use the generated binaries to run RPi. I am running on ubuntu 12.04. Could you please tell me the procedure and files to be put on the sd card of RPi so that it boots into the L4 runtime environment.
