Hi, Could someone please let me know what the expected dev environment is and which tool chains I should in fact be using? I'm trying to compile L4Re for a pandaboard on a 32-bit stock standard Ubuntu 12.10 dev machine with gcc-arm-linux-gnueabihf installed on it, however during the "make O=<build-path> config" step, after going through the menu config I get a pile of "bash: arm-linux-gcc: command not found" error. Hello, When allow L4Linux using more than 512M of memory, user level apps execution can cause ‘Segmentation fault’ or glibc error. For example run 'find' command on fresh booted system. We use PandaBoard. To configure system use 1Gb RAM we set in src/l4/mk/platforms/pandaboard.conf PLATFORM_RAM_SIZE_MB = 1024 Best Regards, Vladimir

Page Fault on real hardware

Dear all, I have been trying to run L4linux on a real hardware (x86 PC). According to the GCC documentation, any one of three separate options will do it: -fstack-protector Emit extra code to check for buffer overflows, such as stack smashing attacks. This is done by adding a guard variable to functions with vulnerable objects. This includes functions that call alloca, and functions with buffers larger than 8 bytes. The guards are initialized when a function is entered and then checked when the function exits. If a guard check fails, an error message is printed and the program exits. NOTE: In Ubuntu 6.10 and later versions this option is enabled by default for C, C++, ObjC, ObjC++, if none of -fno-stack-protector, -nostdlib, nor -ffreestanding are found. Bjoern: I've already run through the process at the L4RE link, and got the "hello" example booting in a VirtualBox instance. However, I want a full-environment.. I want a command-prompt. I'd also like to build the DOpE GUI (just to be complete). All I see there is useful only for module development and kernel development, but no instructions on how to get a full system running. Where do I go for help on that? These ambiguities are one of the reasons it has taken me so long to sit down and work on DROPS. There are many paths that seem similar to an outsider. Perhaps the group can take that old website down, for the further clarity to the outsiders and the peace-of-mind of the insiders?
