Problem with Socket program

I am trying to execute a socket program like - client server. I am getting errors like "undefined reference to socket". But I have included <sys/socket.h>. I tried adding library "-lsocket", still the same error. Also, I get errors like "Library Dependencies missing", "Cflags dependencies missing". What libraries have to be added in the makefile for any socket program? The kernel implementation of socket is also available in uclibc pkg of l4re. How do I make my program linked to the socket call? Please help us resolve this error to get the program built successfully. Thank you very much

Problem Launching L4Linux

Hi everybody, I am actually trying to launch L4Linux on Fiasco.OC+L4RE on Xilinx Zynq using QEMU but I get an error at the end of the boot of L4Linux : */bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off* */ #* Even if I have a shell prompt I can’t type anything, that’s why I am sending this email. I am working under *Ubuntu 64bits 14.04* and I am compiling with *arm-linux-gnueabi-gcc 4.7.3*. Hi l4Hackers, I want to run the l4linux given in l4re-snapshot-2014092821. So, I built the fiasco and the l4re. I created an iso image with grub2 and the modules given in example (entry l4linux) as test: make grub2iso E=L4linux MODULES_LIST=$cwd/l4/conf/modules.list MODULE_SEARCH_PATH=$cwd/kernel/fiasco/mybuild qemu-system-i386 -m 512M -cdrom l4linux.iso -serial file:$cwd/log I enabled needed options such as the VPCI bus and followed the instructions given in mails approaching my problem (http://os.inf.tu-dresden.de/pipermail/l4-hackers/2013/005938.html and http://os.inf.tu-dresden.de/pipermail/l4-hackers/2011/004861.html ). I can launch Linux but the boot crashes. I also tried with VBUS and modaddr 0x02000000 with the same result. So I put the logs in a file. I tried unsuccessfully to see my mistake. In addition, are the last warnings a problem? My configuration: I run a Kubuntu in a Vm: Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description: Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS Release: 14.04 it's a x86-32bit I have: gcc (Ubuntu 4.8.2-19ubuntu1) 4.8.2 I wanted to compile for i386. Is there a way to send commands to the kinvoke method of a kobject from a ned script? I saw in l4/pkg/ned/doc/ned.dox that an IPC gate can be used to send an io stream directly from a ned script. Hi L4 Hackers, My subject seems out of topic, but i don't know where i can ask this kind of thing, and i think there are many people have a knowledge about this subject. I have a problem. I want to directly access GPIO140 (in GPIO5 ball) as input. I have a function to print the value of GPIO5_DATAIN (0x4805 B138). But when i print that out, the value of it still not changed (zero value). I Conclude, the pin still not accepting the input. I have already done these things : 1. Set GPIO5_OE to 0x1 2. See the value of MCSPI1_CS3 Pad Configuration (0x4A10 013C) and it give me value like this (0x011B 001B) which is for GPIO_140 -> MUX_MODE=gpio_140. PULLUDENABLE=0x1(enable). PULLTYPESELECT=0x1(enable). Which is in my current knowledge, is a right setting for accepting input. But still, it's still not successful So where or what did i miss ? is it still any configuration / address to set ? PROBLEM WHILE GETTING INPUT IN RUNTIME

I successfully executed the client-server application in l4 re pkg folder. Now,I would like to implement chat server application in l4re, program does not take the values at run time. So I am unable to make client and server communicate with each other.I have included libc_be_file_stdin. kindly let me know how to make it run.If possible, can you give us the source code of simple chat server.

executing snort(IDS)on l4 linux

Greetings sir, We have been trying to run networking applications like IDS (SNORT) in L4RE. We are able to run IDS on Ubuntu. Can we use the same IDS application on the para-virtualized Linux(L4 Linux) environment without modifying the IDS application OR should we generate modules.list and conf files for its execution. client server communication

I executed the simple client server application, which is inside the l4 pkg directory of l4re. But, in that application, input is given inside the program itself. I want to take the input from user and send it to server through IPC GATE and the server has to respond to client (which will again be given by user). I tried using scanf, cin, sscanf, io.read...but the program takes only the garbage values. I am unable to give input in qemu... It would be helpful if some sample code is given for such kind of applications wherein the user inputs at run time... Gayathri

L4linux build problem

I am trying to build l4linux. Version of l4linux - 3.16.0 I am using fiasco.oc and l4re I configured using the command : sudo make O=build/kernel menuconfig and changed the path to l4re build directory in l4linux configuration. Device Driver Terminology

Hi maybe this is an overly pedantic point but is there a specific term for device drivers in L4Re? In QNX they call them resource managers because they perform the same function as a device driver in a monolithic OS such as Linux but they run in their own address space like a POSIX process and behave like daemon. User space driver isn't really appropriate either because they don't have the same restrictions as user space drivers in a monolithic OS.

Compare security of normal OS and Fiasco.oc with L4re

How to show that an application running on l4re with fiasco.oc is more secure than running the same application on normal operating system? Which application can be chosen for proving the security aspects of l4re? Some of which that I know are 1. DMS - Denial of mitigation system 2. IDS - Intrusion Detection system 3. Firewall etc... But I want a very basic and simple application to demonstrate the security when compared with running the same on normal os. Help needed. Gayathri
