starting mag in l4con virtual console

hi, l4-hackers! I'm now experimenting with l4con from l4re. I found that now l4con is exporting the console access via Goos interface. And l4dope is started in Mag buffer. And equally, because l4con exports the same interface, it can be started in l4con virtual console. I tried that, it works perfectly. Then I tried the same with Mag in l4con buffer. -- It even starts, but the mouse isn't moving. I looked into Mag source, and discovered that Mag has plugins. But I have no idea how to use them. Can you give me a hint? Also, I found that there is two input plugins, one of them using event interface, other using libinput library. I suspect that I must to use the event one, but how? I start Mag the same way as DOpE. The single difference from the usual way of starting Mag is that vbus cap is missing (I gave the vbus cap to l4con, so, I think that Mag should not access input devices directly via vbus_input, but what instead?) Thank you for your reply. Just to test the functionality, I tried a very simple thread. It does vary with the number. Am I missing something? The L4::Thread interface has the stats_time function to get the consumed time of a thread (FINE_GRAINED_CPUTIME in the kernel might be of interest here). Hi again I forgot to ask, can l4con directly access video hardware? I knew that it supports some video acceleration features with, for example, Matrox cards (I have Matrox Millenium G400). So, can I use it with l4con video acceleration? If so, how to enable it? Is it detected automatically? Have you any plans for enancing fb_drv to support the video acceleration? There were some libraries used in Linux to support framebuffer acceleration. They could be ported to l4re... WBR, valery

Hi, I want to measure how much CPU time a thread has consumed. When the CPU time consumption exceeds a certain limit (specific to that thread), I want to raise an interrupt. Please suggest me how can I do it efficiently? Thanks.

L4 Driver Security

Hey List, me again with one (hopefully final) question. I'm learning about Driver Security in L4Re. I have some statements which I would like to have confirmed to understand the underlying principles: 1. L4 Drivers use DMA and are therefore able to write directly to the device memory and thus can cause crashes or damage if not carefully implemented. 2. While the L4Re Io-Server manages the access of drivers to the hardware's address spaces, it doesn't prevent drivers to write "bad" things into the device memory. 3.
